The BNP are launching 'anti minaret T-shirts' and posters.
Desperate for money perhaps? Islamaphobic, racisit, *! the BNP now need funding after the recent case?

The image is of a woman in a hijab, behind her is the Union Jack and a quoute from the Turkish Prime-Minister.

Have you read the Swiss move to ban Minarets thread? I am sure that is the one I added links to the posters being used in Switzerland and Austria about this very thing.....

It seems to me as though the far right seem to be far more unified in their attack/apporach than many give them credit for....

IMO they are more of a threat than so many people, inc Muslims, realise....

i dont think its as much a sign of far-right unity as it as a sign of the bnp not having the imagination and/or money to come up with their own designs

It may well be the case - but if so many o****ries unite in this manner, the pressure against everyday Muslims existence even will increase across Europe...

maybe some enterprisng website or org could have tell the bnp where they'd like to stick their minarets?

surely someone out there is able to come up with something witty to counter this type of rubbish.

the real issue is why should there be a disparity between what can be condoned by the law against muslims/islam and yet not against judaism/jews.

shouldnt there be a campaign for equality of protection, human rights?

One only has to look at photos of BNP or EDL types to notice that they are at a different stage on the evolutionary scale

I am not going to click on the BNP link, but I am assuming it is from a poem Erdogan once recited about mosques being barracks and minarets being bayonets? That was in the context of Turkish politics. Read the Turkish national anthem.

can you explain this a bit more

in ten minutes of searching i cant find the poem that erdogan was supposedly quoting from (it says this in most of the articles ive found), the and i dont see the connection with the national anthem. im sure it was to reflect political struggles of devout muslims in secular turkey, rather than any imperialist stance, but the "poem" bit confuses me

Bob, please see my entire post and NotAPrayer's link for some background.

You've just fixed onto one selective quote used by the BNP -- a quote made a Turkish politician in the context of Turkish politics and nationalism, and having nothing really to do with British Muslim communities, who are largely from the Subcontinent (in which case why don't they quote some Jinnah

).

Though I do wish Muslims in the UK were a bit more imaginative with mosque architecture... a lot of the new purpose built ones are, to put it bluntly, ugly!
