Post “Justice for Rizwan Hussain” Demonstration in London

Many of you may be aware of the incident with TV Presenter, Aid Worker and Barrister Rizwan Hussain on the 14th of April 2008, where he was detained, brutally beaten and tortured by the Bangladesh Air Force in Dhaka. As a result, he was left with bruises (60% of his upper body), multiple fractures to his right leg and a broken right arm.

As a response to the situation, the Bangladesh Human Rights Coalition are staging a demonstration in Aftab Ali Park, Whitechapel Road, London (Nearest Tube: Whitechapel) on Saturday the 26th of April 2008 at 5pm to apply further pressure on key individuals to act adequately to this matter.

The Bangladesh Human Right Coalition are asking for:

1. An independent enquiry into the matter.

2. An apology from the air force for the barbaric actions of their personnel.

3. An apology from the Caretaker Government for failing to prevent the injustice suffered.

4. The trial and dismissal of the officers involved in the incident, upon their conviction.

Rizwan Hussain, among other high profile individuals will be speaking to show their support for the cause.

We ask everyone to attend to show their support to ensure justice is achieved for Rizwan Hussain - and also to prevent future occurrences of such incidents.

There is also a petition which we aim to present to the High Commissioner of Bangladesh on the day: www.petitiononline.com/rizwan/

JazakAllahu Khayra for letting us know.

I'll be there, Insha'Allah.

I hope thousands of others turn up.
