Default Is it time for Muhammad Ali to be left alone?

I am sure many of us have huge respect and love for the man- as others do across the world.

Ali has touched so many people and helped change perceptions as well as lives by being an inspiration.

But I do feel sad to see he is brought out to attend various functions or openings- everyone could see he is very frail now and unable to make any form of communication or gesture.

Is it time to leave the man alone and let him rest and prepare to meet his Lord?

It is a testament to the singular achievements of Ali that he is wheeled out whenever there is some big competition, and let's not forget that he is also an olympic boxing champion who went on to dominate the world of boxing and his achievements are unlikely to be surpassed which is why they ask him to attend.
However, yes, it is also my personal opinion that it is time he be left alone.

I think we maybe under-estimate his desire and will to be at these events, no matter how weak it may make him look and what other people say. I do agree that it's time for him to be left alone but Ali is ALI. Even though he was frail, it was a great moment and you could see how the crowd responded that they were happy to see him there also. Nobody has told Ali what to do but maybe people around him could try to lighten the load in terms of appearances. Although tbh, his appearances do tend to be sporadic nowadays, I mean he was going to be at the Olympics because of what he did in them.

He lit the flame in Atlanta 1996 and I think that was great- the world all watched and believe everyone probably thought it was fitting- but I don't think he was required to be dragged out again at 70 and now so frail.

He's a crowd puller no doubt- but there comes a time when enough is enough.

As I recall Parkinsons only affects the body and not the mind. Thus if his mind is still functioning and a functioning mind at seventy is not uncommon and therefore if he has the will and desire to attend these events then who are we to say no to him? As long as he can find an aide to assist him, of course.
