i guess security is gonna be bumped up to major level at this year Games
What handy timing.
It'll be interesting to see if these are some more "released without charge" terrorists and, if so, how the press deals with the story.

I think the banking rate fixing angle is covering this story atm but no doubt the Daily Star and other tabloids will splash this on the front page.
But yeah Fred, very interesting timing, a nice little reminder to reinforce the Government's OTT response to security for the Games that the threat will be there.
They could just be smokers.

That'll show the bugger what cigarette smokers will get. Even a fake fag get a 9mm stuck in your face.
Now that's draconian law in action (or maybe paranoid twits in action)
Another 7 arrests but with guns in the car so it's a bit cut and dried.
http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18734585
Seven men have been arrested by police in anti-terror raids after weapons were found hidden in a car, police say.
Six men from the West Midlands and one from West Yorkshire were detained over three days, West Midlands Police said.
They said the car was stopped on the M1 in South Yorkshire on Saturday - a search later found firearms, offensive weapons and other material inside.

the above story sounds like an unrelated criminal arrest, probably involvng drugs.
the london arrests seem to be related to online activity:
A 22-year-old woman has been arrested in east London in connection with an ongoing counter-terrorism operation, the Metropolitan Police has said. She is being held on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.should find out next week if it's all just hot air:Richard Dart, a Muslim convert who uses the name Salahuddin al Britani, was also detained in the raids, it is understood. He features in a YouTube video which criticises the Royal Family and British military action in Muslim countries.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18751617Police have been given until 12 July to detain six people arrested on Thursday as part of the same investigation.

3 of the 7 released, other 4 had their detention extended to 19th July:

Same story or new one?
Nice timing as we hit Ramadan.

yep, it's the same story - going by the vague charges, i guess i shouldn't make any holiday plans for pakistan or own a mobile phone which can access public maps and timetables.
The three men are alleged to have travelled to Pakistan for terrorism training, to have travelled abroad to commit acts of terrorism, and to have advised and counselled the commission of terrorist acts by providing information about travel to Pakistan and terrorism training, and operational security while there.
The woman, Ruksana Begum, 22, of Islington, is charged with possession of a digital memory card containing a document likely to be of use to a terrorist, from July 5.
Isn't it funny though how it can be very easily made out to be a totally new story. Escaping the vigilantes trying to tackle the EDL in the Midlands, there is also a story about a terrorist plot to murder Jews in Manchester.
Why is the Muslim community in the United Kingdom so dumb?
"My most brilliant achievement was my ability to be able to persuade my wife to marry me." - Winston Churchill
Not so much dumb as lacking a unifying central control.
