Some did, whilst others avoided it.

The reason was to prepare for a problem before it occurred.

Am I the only one who felt like I found the missing piece of the jigsaw?

I really enjoyed writing my assignment for fiqh, and this is what I would study in depth if I had the chance...

I liked the book apart from the last bit where AABP glossed over how the madhabs can be reconciled.

You'll find that the pro-Madhab muslims find "faults"/"errors" within the book.

It's a good starting point for studying comparitive Fiqh.

Learning about the reformers at the moment, and wondering who are the reformers of today...

I don't think it is. A person who acts on behalf of a collective group of scholars (posts videos/passes on messages etc) is more useful.

I personally have had many positive experiences with Scholars: availabilty, ability to relate, friendships, amount of scholars. And because I studied a little bit it has also helped me to respect these people who have a wealth of knowledge

To me what you're describing there is an Imam.

I don't think Imams can derive rulings, particularly those who follow madhabs.

But yeah, it's hard for me (and others too ) to tell the difference between scholars and imams.

i'd rather blind follow men of knowledge and learning than mr.hadeeth off the street, ultimately you follow someone one or did you get it directly from the Muhammad (saw) without the hadith narrators interjection

A imam is a person who leads the salah. A scholar is a person who has knowledge upto a certain level.

I think i might just be paranoid sometimes. Like some places are largely Gujarati then largely Arab places and largely Pakistani places are normally breveli. Maybe its because i'm Pakistani i must have self esteem issues. I've got my khimar and nikaab so i can blend in with the Somalis now.
