Default Big brother IS watching (Soon)

    http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-17576745

Email and web use 'to be monitored' under new laws

The government will be able to monitor the calls, emails, texts and website visits of everyone in the UK under new legislation set to be announced soon.

Internet firms will be required to give intelligence agency GCHQ access to communications on demand, in real time.
I believe that's the sort of thing police states do.

I also made a thread about this too link

They are discussing a new act over in the states. Version 1 of it had to be scrapped because of protests. It's basically politicians being bought by Hollywood.

Oh my, what if people figured out they can tell what tv channels we watch.

I think Labour were planning something like this before it got nixed. The thing, the government are already using this: "We have to do this to protect us from terrorists" and the chunk of the public will probably accept it and not cotton on that these prospective laws will affect someone with other crimes.

I hope sense and protests prevail to axe this one.

Typical Lib Dems keeping their seat comfy in power whilst I'm pretty sure if they weren't in a coalition that they'd be shouting against this from the rooftops!

Apparently, it's not something you would want to rely on when trying hard to avoid western sec agencies, but the "Tor browser" is often used outside the west to avoid less capable intel agencies, and for non illegal activities in the UK where just privacy is important it would be ideal, and the way to make this law fail. I've not used it very much at all except to see what it is and to test it out a little bit, but you can't do everything with it that you could with a normal browser due to the security measures it takes for you, and which normal browsers don't take. If just sticking two fingers at the law is the only thing desired, then I guess it would still massively disrupt these big brother plans, although wouldn't give you full anonimity as using it properly is meant to do.

One additonal useful thing about it is since you can hide your IP, you can watch somethign like iplayer from abroad since you can use a GB ip address as the visible IP address. Also applies to any other site where country access restrictions apply.

Yeah, what's the big surprise, I was always under the impression that stuff we're doing on certain platforms is being monitored. (Just watch Spooks)

Didn't polititians promise significant crime reduction with all these street and city CCTV cameras? Well, it didn't happen.

Polititians know full well they are making empty promises, just as with anti terror laws. All these powers being given away to the state will just be used to further their control and abuse of the sheeple.

As far as the state is concerned, there is no difference.

I'd be amazed if this and other Muslim forums weren't being watched.

Maybe the sheep I confessed to in the other thread after being waterboarded.

This bill is way too dangerous to anyone and everyone. All it takes is one nut job to convince enough people and you have a police state within a democracy.
Interesting that parliament resisted broadcasting the house for so long but they want to see every move we make.
