Default Hate Crime Investigation Opened in Kingston-upon-Thames

I have no idea how to put this, but it appears both the victims and the perpetrators are Muslim. From the Independent....

Hardline Islamists in Britain have been distributing leaflets calling for the murder of AhmadiMuslims in Kingston-upon-Thames whilst mosques have been vandalised in Newham and Crawley.
I can understand how some people find the beliefs of others slightly odd, but why the threat of violence towards this particular religious community? Not only violence, but an attempt to cause them financial difficulty
Preachers in south London have also been orchestrating a boycott of Ahmadi businesses
Aided and abetted, although they have apologised, by the Ummah channel
and Ofcom has had to reprimand an Islamic satellite channel for repeatedly calling the sect "Wajib-ul Qatal" - an Arabic phrase used to describe those who digress from mainstream Islam that translates as "liable for death".
I hope the police clamp down on this, as due to recent events in Pakistan, an escalation would only hurt the communities involved

Well, that's a subjective opinion. The Ahmadi sect are not widely regarded as being Muslim among other Muslim groups (at best, they're regarded as a deviation). If you look at their origins, you may see why. Claims to prophethood aside, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is widely believed to have been a stooge, supported by the British in a bid to keep the region's Muslim community pacified, or at least sufficiently divided as to be an ineffective opposition during our imperial period. He certainly was at ease with British governance, which at the time is fair to say was less than stellar.

Not that any of this is an excuse for violence or discrimination.

    I agree.

Strange how these 'extremists' are untraceable and handing out leaflets at the same time.

It does say the police have opened an investigation but I cannot find where it says the culprits are untraceable. I expect they are in the process of looking.

Or, it could be that you are hinting at the possibility that the whole thing may not be what it first appears to be, some sort of setup by pesons unknown perhaps?
