Default NOOR TV promoting Eid-Ul-Adha on Thursday 20 Dec

Was watching a few nasheeds/hamds on Noor Tv a little earlier and was quite taken-aback to find that not only is it sponsored by the British Muslim Forum & is predominantly slanted towards the Sufi Sect but that they are promoting Eid-ul-Adha for Thursday. Now I dont have anything against Sufi sect but why is Eid being promoted for Thursday.

Quite strange really when you consider that Eid-Ul-Adha should occurr a day after Hajj.

All other masjids are doing Eid on Wednesday 19 Dec.

Are there any on here celebrating Eid on Thursday (I will for sure be celebrating it on the correct day which is Wednesday.)

On what fundamental Shariah principles "should Eid be on Wednesday?"
Anybody can answer this...not just Re-born Jihadi.

I aint no scholar and i certainly aint knowledgable enough to know the answer but some of the reasons they may say follow.

See thers actually some debate over when the month of Dhul Hijjah actually started and those people say that u should go by ur own country. Now re the debate of when eid should be - well because they say that the month started a day after it did in saudi - theyre 10th falls on thursday. Now about eid falling after hajj - well there is nothing conclusive that links the eid to hajj. Like we know that eid ul fitr follows the month of ramadhan and its been cited many times in hadith etc. There is no such evidence saying that eid ul adha should be the day after the hajj - rather its known as the qurbani eid and plus the eid was celebrated on the 10th for a few years before the hajj was made compulsory.

So basically wat theyre saying is that yes hajj does occur on the 9th of Dhul Hajjah because thats wen it falls in saudi but in their own country the 10th isnt till thurs.

i have also been told what Sista said that Eid il adha pre dates hajj and therefore should be celebrated on the 10th Zil Hajj and not the day after Hajj.

Also one must take into consideration that Hajj is at the descrtion of saudi gov so they can adjust it by bringing a few days forwar (i have heard this) becuase when people gather in arfat that is the day of haj.

I sued to think we should celebrate it with saudi not knowing the issues behind it but once it was explained it makes sense.

It is all dependent on moon siting for the month of zil haj that determines eid and not which day hajj falls on.

Nonsense. Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated the day after Hajj. Whatever that day might be. Not 2 or 3 days later. Thats completely wrong.

Well there are two opinions here the one is that the day of sacrifice is independent to Eid and was 10 Dhul Hijjah as per Sunnah 6 at least 6 Years prior to the Hajj...

The other opinion is tha the Prophet SAW said ''Today I have completed your religion for you'' This was at the hajj so making the day of the Sacrifice after the day of Arafat.

However the latter opinion some say is flawed because before the time of advanced long distance communication people never knew if the Hajj had happened or not..so they carried on using the 10 of Dhul Hijjah as the day of Sacrifice regardless of whether the day of Arafat was set on the 8 like this year or correctly on the 9th as it should be...because they just didn't know...so they went by the Sunnah of having the day of nahr on the 10th Dhul Hijjah

Well Softqwik, I am surprised because at the Mitchell Street Mosque at Jumma the Imam (who was from the from the Golden Mosque and sitting in for the local Imam who is on Hajj) clearly stated that the Rochdale committee had declared Friday as Eid.

Secondly I spoke to the (deputy) Imam of a third Mosque today who said that while he didn't agree with the Friday decision they were going along with it for the sake of Unity.

    Salams

Your guess is correct. Rochdale has it's own ruiet e hilal committee, this was set up to try to arrange for one eid in the whole of Rochdale, however some mosques insist on following Saudi Arabia's lead whereas some will go their own way. The only outcome so far this year has been for the Ruiet e hilal committee in Rochdale to end up announcing Eid on a different day to the rest of the Muslims in the UK

Out of the frying pan and into the.... You know what I mean
