Default Labour MP resigns defence post

Sorry if this has been posted already I did a quick search and it doesn't seem to have been.

The 52-year-old said many of his Labour colleagues believed the government's policy was flawed.

He also said he believed the Palestinian situation had been put on the back burner.

"The reason I am resigning is the current conflict in the Middle East," he said.

"I don't expect my resignation will have any significant impact on the prime minister's objectives in the Middle East, which I genuinely believe to be honourable on his part, but I don't believe they reflect the core values of the Labour Party or indeed the country."

It probably will have little effect. But it does show how not all of Labour (come to think of it who is with him on this in his own party?) follows Blairs line. I'm beginning to think Labour could quite possibly split into two before the next election, unless they sort themselfs out.

So EVERYTHING that I have said about the party is coming true??

Yet noone says "Oh yeah, Nishath, you were right."

I said that these events would happen. I told everyone on here that the Labour party is overwhelmingly against the official stance.

But, like Cassandra, I am ignored.

Jim Sheridan is only the tip of the iceberg. Even some of Blair's closest allies are willing to resign over this.

I don't want people saying, "Oh yeah, Nishath, you're great, cos you know stuff.", but when I am shot down for defending the party, then events like this seem to justify my membership.

I just wish that there are more with the guts to do it NOW rather than later.

First of Nishath you do not know stuff, and you do not know what you are talking about on this issue, it is very obvious number of politician in the Labour pary do not like what is happening in Lebanon or in the Middle East, , even Jack Straw PPS has asked for Parliament to be recalled. These people have no problem in showing there defiance NOW, simply because they know that Blair will not be in power, in 1 year to 18 months from now. These Labour MPs can now start being brave. I would not be surprised if "Jim Sheridan" did not watch Brave Heart the night before he made the statement regarding his resignation

Nishath, you make a very good PR/ Propagandist consultant

Nishath, the only person who has got his head in the sand is your self, you are coming up with all this propaganda, if you want, i can go through a number of points which we has discussed in the past, where you did not know what you were talking about, lets not forget about your Oona Phonna not signing early day motions in regards to Palestine LOL@ Nishath and then you came up with excuses

Where you are right I agree with you, and when you are wrong i tell you so.

"Jim Sheridan" resigned and made a political statement simply because Blair is history in about a years time, more and more Labour MPs will know speak, the moment Blair indicated that he would not stand for a fourth term, number of Labour MP started to come out of there closets, they are now roaring like lions, they seem to impress you. The day Blair made the statement, number of commentators stated that more Labour MPs will now rebel against Blair, simply because they know that Blair will not be standing for a fourth term.

    Political commentators??

I said before he made the announcement that Iraq had divided the cabinet and that they went along with it for unity! Even then I said that Jack Straw had serious misgivings.

Anyway... can't be bothered for another round of this. Carry on at your leisure.

Some one who had serious misgivings, was a man called Robin Cook.
Some one who roars like a mouse is Jack Straw and your Oona Phoona whom you are very highly impressed by.

Jack Straw is no different than your Oona Phoona, who would say the right things to hold political office. Because Jack Straw has been dumped, he has now started to roar a like a mouse, if you are impressed with that, that is you choice. Had he been in the Forgian office right now, he would have followed Blair, like you followed Oona Phoona.

Man of character, Robin Cook, when he was in the Foreign sectary criticised Israel, when on a trip with Blair to Pakistan/ India spoke up for the Kashmiri people. That is a man of character and a lion. You seemed to be impressed by the likes Jack Straw and Oonna Phoona, meaning mice’s that pretend to roar , now that is you choice But then what can you expect from a propogandist

Better late than never... However I will say there are a few good people in Labour such as Jeremy Corby. He has actually been more vocal than all the Muslim MPs put together. Maybe we need to look at ourselves and cease this voting for muslims because they are muslims. In a way we are condemning them to subscribe to secularism rather than islam. Hence I would only ever vote for tactical purposes (remove a zionist, install pro-muslim) rather than because the candidate is a muslim. An example of this is Sadiq Khan who signed an EDM2616 condemning the capital punishment of some gay men in Iran. In a way Sadiq was silly enough to not stand for his deen and instead, made an action that opposes Sharia. He needs to seriously consider a Taubah and correct it. We should not support Muslim MPs. Vote for non-muslims only tactically. (not because we hold their secular laws, but because its to support our own agendas, the most prominent is Foreign Policy).
