View Full Version : The Hudaibiya Treaty

I have heard that the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) once used the "trick" of a temporary truce (apparently permitted in Islam) to make a treaty, called the Hudaibiya Treaty with the Jewish Koraish tribe.

I have been told, however, that in 628 C.E., at the Khalil Oasis, Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) killed them.

I would like to hear some more information about this apparent event, which I have been told about by a Christian fundamentalist.

The Quraish were not a jewish tribe, and he did not kill them. The treaty of hudaibiyah was a treaty with the non-Muslims headed by the tribe of Quraish for a 10 year truce between them, as temporary truces between muslims & the enemies of ISlam in a war are indeed permitted, as salahudeen also had such a treaty with the crusaders.

The Quraish broke that treaty, by slaughtering an encampment of Muslims, and it was understood that if any side did break the treaty, then war would resume. This did not result in killing them all, but resulted in the conquest of Mecca by our prophet, as a result of the war resuming. Not a single person (as far as I am aware) was killed in this conquest, as the quraish & the people of mecca realised that resistence was futile, and were well aware of the mercy of Mohammed, that he would not do anything to anybody, unless they resisted and attacked the muslims coming to mecca.

I apologise for the mistake sister.

Indeed she is very knowledgable and I thank her for giving me the information I was looking for.

I post on a few boards and, unfortunately, there are not many females present.

It is good to know that there are some Muslim females on this board too. :)
