Can we as muslims not rise up beyond party politics knowing fully well that when it comes to matters of homeland security and foreign policy they all stand on the same wall (on a party level). Let this point not become the issue of discussion as to how and where they differ. Remember the whole government and its aparatus does not change in the UK due to the elections.

Can we take a different approach in that we reserve our votes for candidates that stand for our interests and the interests of the public at large. In that way we can win in all fronts without voting for incapable candidates for the sake the party we stand by.

I am seeing alot of comments flying around about Respect Vs Lib Dem Vs Labour Vs the Tories. Let us not get caught up in this partisan short sighted mentality and actually come up with a set of criteria with which we can select the candidate that best deserves our votes in each constituency ?

I'd appreciate constructive comments towards building :

1. A list of conditions or criteria which can be used to filter out MPs and PPCs that deserve our vote.

2. Resulting from the above a comprehensive list of cross party Piarlamentary candidates towards whom we can safely encourage muslim and non muslim votes.

Sister Umm Zakariya

What would your pointers be for the qualities of a suitable candidate for Muslim vote ?

Once we've got a list of screening conditions can we start separate threads for each Political party and weed out the candidates!!

Come on readers..! let's get this done! with everyones effort we can do something constructive!
