With the elections having just taken place in Iraq, what are the views of this forum regarding the elctions that have just taken place.
Do you think it was good that muslims partook in the elections?
What would be the advice the members of this forum would give to the Muslims of Iraq regarding their future?
Were the elections a victory for Democracy or was it an exercise to ligitemise occupation?
Just craeting a discussion

the elections was an exercise to legitimise occupation. I was hoping for the Muslims in Iraq to stay away from the elections to be honest.
Islamic, another point about Iraq is that from what I see from our Kurdish brothers I always get the sense that they see themselves separate from the global Muslim ummah.
will they push for there own state in the north?

The elections were their to legitimice occupation. They do not mean anything and if anything has only created more division in Iraq.
The Kurds do seem to seperate themselves from the Ummah. We even see many of them causing violence when Hizb Ur Tahir held a peaceful protest against the elections in Manchester.
I pray these people see beyond the nationalistic ideas and see that unity is the only anwer.

When the muslim world had its cultural invasion the imperialist states planted the seeds of nationalism
Today even there are many groups that have been set up in the muslim world to call for nationalistic tendencies.
I.E. telling the muslims to call for their own independence.
But the reality of what they are calling for are mini-states which are in-dependence to the west.
But alhamdullia i would say ummah generally speaking has come a long way and they have realised that nationalism will never unite people.
And also they have realised that the muslims only were ever united under islam and the muslims only ever had dignity under islam.
But another question what are the views of the muslims here with regards to the idea that the muslims should have voted in the elections so that atleast they could get some benefit from the elections by voting for someone who may be slighlty more islamic or someone who may have benefited the muslims a bit more ?

Benefit is what the capitalist ideology is built on. If something benefits a number of people it's ok even though it may do harm to the majority of people.
These elections do nothing for the people in Iraq. They dont address the core issues and problems in the country and again it may have benefited someone but thats not good enough.
