Salaam all,
As we know Ramadan is month that replenishes our vigour and patience fee si'beelilah (for the pleasure of Allah). So i thawt it would be a nice reminder, about what we habits we shud take with us, from Ramadan for the rest of the year.
SHIRK - All fasts are made for the pleasure of Allah SWT alone. We dont fast to protect our shame. Nor for the benefit of our parents being happy, not nagging us, or because everyone else is doing it. Similarly after Ramadan, we do not cheat, steal, or lie, are rude or unplesant, impatient not because our popularity will go down, but because we seek to gain Allah's favour and His pleasure, and we fear the wrath of the Hellfire.
(oh dear its opening fast time, will continue this after aftaar!)

SHIRK ( الشرك ) …..THE GRAVEST OF SINS!!
What is Shirk?
Shirk is ascribing a partner to Allāh (SWT) in terms of his Divinity.
SHIRK IS THE GRAVEST OF ALL SINS.
Why? Because Allāh (SWT) has stated:
Verily, Allāh forgives not that partners should be set up with Him (in worship), but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He wills; and whoever sets up partners with Allāh in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin. (Qur’ān 4:48)
This is the Guidance of Allāh with which He guides whomsoever He wills of His slaves. But if they had joined in worship others with Allāh, all that they used to do would have been of no benefit to them. (Qur’ān 6:88)
And indeed it has been revealed to you as it was to those before you: "If you join others in worship with Allāh, surely your deeds will be in vain, and you will certainly be among the losers." (Qur’ān 39:65)
SOME FORMS OF SHIRK
1. SHIRK IN KNOWLEDGE
Say: "None in the heavens and the earth knows the Ghaib (Unseen) except Allāh, nor can they perceive when they shall be resurrected." (Qur’ān 27:65)
The Messenger of Allāh (SWT) said, “He who consults a diviner or a soothsayer and believes what he says, will have disbelieved in what has been sent down to Muhammad (i.e. the Qur’ān). Abū Dawūd
· Believing that a certain pious person/ spiritual master knows about everything in the universe
· asking an astrologer or fortune-teller about one’s future (events which belong to the unseen world, an exclusive domain of Allāh)
· believing that a certain omen written by a pious person is definitely going to happen
2. SHIRK IN POWER
And if Allāh touches you with hurt, there is none who can remove it but He, and if He intends any good for you, there is none who can repel His Favour which He causes it to reach whomsoever of His slaves He wills. And He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful. (Qur’ān 10:107)
· Thinking someone (individual/ group/ state) has the power to provide gain or inflict loss
· Asking someone other than Allāh to grant wishes
3. SHIRK IN IBĀDAH
And whosoever does not judge by what Allāh has revealed, such are the Kāfirūn. (Qur’ān 5:44)
And whosoever does not judge by that which Allāh has revealed, such are the Zālimūn. (Qur’ān 5:45)
And whosoever does not judge by what Allāh has revealed (then) such (people) are the Fāsiqūn. (Qur’ān 5:47)
The Messenger of Allāh (SAWS) said, “He who swears by other than Allah, commits kufr or shirk.” Ahmad and others.
· ascribing a partner to Allāh in acts of worship
· to prostrate (sajūd) or bow (rūkū for anyone other than Allāh
· to sacrifice an animal in the name of someone other than Allāh
· to release an animal dedicated in the name of someone other than Allāh
· to make a vow in someone’s name other than Allāh
· to give preference to someone else’s word, custom, law against Allāh’s commandments
*************************************************************
This is only a very brief overview to arouse awareness about this great sin. Although no Muslim would knowing commit major/ overt shirk unfortunately minor/ hidden shirk is all too common amongst the Muslims in this day and age. Advising people who are engaged in such practices is extremely difficult.
This sin is so serious that every Muslim should seek knowledge regarding this matter and repent sincerely regarding this sin before death overcomes him.
