Salaam sisters
I have a question - can we do wudhu over make up(e.g over foundation, mascara etc). My sis says no as foundation is a layer but even so the wetness can still be felt on the skin? If anyone knows please let me know, its difficult to wash off and do wudhu especially at work. I know I shouldnt really be wearing it , am trying to improve insh'allah

Assalāmu alaikum wa rehmatullah "SisterA"
The following information is not my own opinion but based on knowledge attained from books of fiqh and fatāwa issued by authentic Islamic scholars. I am not a scholar.

1. Being in a state of purity is a pre-requisite for salah/prayer (fard or sunnah or nafl).
If your wudu is incomplete your salah is invalid.
2. Washing the face, both arms, wiping the head and washing both feet are obligatory acts of wudu. (Scholars mention some other acts which are also obligatory for wudu but let’s keep it simple).
3. The Prophet (SAWS) strongly commanded us to make proper wudu and not to leave any part dry. If any part of the skin is left dry the wudu is incomplete and salah is invalid. This may be due to the fact that water does not reach the skin due to a barrier. (Note that henna is permissible as it does not act as a barrier while nail polish does act as a barrier).
If there is any doubt regarding the validity of one’s wudu in this sort of situation it is obligatory to remove that doubt.
And Allāh knows best.

This information should answer your question.
If this information has been useful to you (or anyone else) please pray from me to become a better Muslim.

Assalaamu alaikum wa rehmatullah "SisterA",
No, I did not use any internet site.
You can search the internet but you have to know the background and authenticity of the person answering the question.
The information I provided you with is based on my reading of recognised books of fiqh/ fatāwa.

I cannot answer specific questions, I am not a scholar.
However, the other questions you have posed have already been answered in general in posting No. 3. Please read it again and you will find the answers there.
You have the knowledge now if you add piety, taqwa and seek guidance from Allāh (SWT) you will insha'Allāh do the right thing.
