Funding MPAC

It is allowable to fund MPAC with zakat?
Has anyone looked into this?

I've asked a similar questions, and UmmZakariya reply was:


no i dont think it woudl be zakat we ask for sadaqa, i think there would have to be special circumstances for it to be zakat and we would need fatawa from scholars i know in the US giving to CAIR is sadaqa they have a fatwa because so many charities assets were frozen scholars decided giving to a lobby and may resolve such issues was also zakat...0f course dont let that stop you pls give us your sadaqa Allah knows every little helps.

Thank you very much for that brother Shazan but you will have noted that the question was posed on 21st December 2004 (almost a year ago) soon after I joined the forum in connection with the debates going on at the time re jihad/ political jihad etc. and based on the fact that jihad is one of the 8 categories eligible for zakat.
I know a lot more about MPACUK now and for me the question is now superfluous.
