Salaams,

Just heard the respected Councillor Imtiaz Ameen for the Conservatives will be taking on Labour's jack Straw for the seat in Blackburn.

What I want to know is who will MPACUK give their alliance to? Will it be Jack who support the Labour Friends of Israel or Conservatives Imtiaz Ameen who has made tremendous change to the Dewsbury ward?

I myself will be getting in touch with Ameen and hopefully help him in his campaign. Will it be a lone crusade or will MPACKUK join us?

TORY councillor Imtiaz Ameen is relishing his first bid to become an MP '- by standing against Foreign Secretary Jack Straw.
Coun Ameen, 33, turned his attention to Mr Straw's `safe' Blackburn seat after narrowly losing out to Sayeeda Warsi as the Conservative candidate for Dewsbury and Mirfield.

http://www.muslimprofessionals.org.uk/temp/ameen.jpg

Dewsbury-born Coun Ameen (Dewsbury South) has to overturn a 9,000 majority but said: "I am going to have some fun."
Solicitor Coun Ameen, who was brought up in Savile Town, said the Labour Government and Mr Straw in particular gave him plenty of ammunition.
"Blackburn is very similar to Dewsbury in that it has a large Muslim community," he said. "Jack Straw is a very high profile politician but there are many issues I can get my teeth into.
"There is a lot of anger and resentment over the war in Iraq and Jack Straw is directly responsible for the Government's foreign policy.
"He might have a 9,000 majority and have been an MP for 25 years but because of the Government's problems this is a unique opportunity to give him a run for his money."
Coun Ameen, only elected to Kirklees Council in 2003 and then re-elected in June this year, said he had packed a lot into the last 18 months.
He made the last three in Dewsbury but lost out to Mrs Warsi. "I made the party's candidates list and Dewsbury and Blackburn were the only two seats I was really interested in," he said, although he was also shortlisted for Keighley.
He successfully came through the final selection process at Blackburn on Saturday against two others securing well over the 50 per cent he needed to win on the first vote.

"I am delighted to have been chosen" he said. "Dewsbury and Blackburn were both seats which felt I could make a serious impact. The majorities were not something which scared me."

Coun Ameen, who is married to Sabina and lives in Headfield Road Savile Town, estimated there were 25,000 Muslim voters ,in Blackburn
"Traditionally Labour has the Muslim vote and a lot of Straw's majority will be from Muslim community.

"I reckon there is a Tory vote of 12,500 and if I can shift a third of the Muslim vote directly from Labour to the Conservative: Mr Straw will be looking over shoulder. Labour have taken Asian vote for granted for years.

Apart from the Iraq issue Councillor Ameen planned to tackle Mr Straw over education, hospitals crime.

"I will certainly be asking Foreign Secretary why he misled the population of Blackburn and the country into a war which put the lives of British troops at risk and, according to some accounts led to the deaths of 100,000 people
Coun Ameen said he expected General Election to be called May 5 and added: "I am really looking forward to it.

"Someone has said to be that win I will be made for life whatever happens I am going have some fun. I have nothing to lose."

Coun Ameen said fellow Dewsbury South Tory council Khizar Iqbal and Jonathan Scott would take the strain locally in the coming montyhs.

Any reason why this Ummah is in the gutters is thanks to comments like the above. Instead of supporting him we have such naive and stupid comments.

I see you neatly edited out my further comments of hoping that he does not become worse than Jack Straw.I think you should stop juding people on comments... What i was stating was a possibility which has happened to be true for all our other muslim mp's in this country. I took part in supporting them too.

How do you know im not actively taking part in this get rid of Jack straw campaign. Stop wondering and get a grip man you hopless wonder.

WOAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! look at Jacks Straw's figures people!! :indiff:

How dumb are we muslims for allowing the Ummah to become so stupid, so pathetic that we can allow figures like these! how can we have sat pacified on the sidelines when we watched blackburn muslims whilst they let this happen! I blame not only blackburn Muslims but every other Muslim in the UK for allowing them to vote blindly or to continue to think voting is 'haram' :nono:

man, Straw HAS to be kicked out good and proper this time round - and we as the Ummah of the Prophet (pbuh) have to unite to defeat enemies of Islam. :rocket:

We have to adopt MPACUK's guideline's on ACTIVE Islam so people like Jack Bloody Straw don't have power to supress Muslims worldwide!!!

I think MPACUK are going to be having some flash video presentations on the site next to the forum tab. These video's will be briefly highlighting which MP's are anti-muslim (Gapse/Straw, etc). These videos will be up shortly inshAllah....

and MPAC are also having material on the site as The Bat was saying...Wonder, you can then print these leaflets off and distribute them round.

He defo voted FOR the war in Iraq, he foreign secretary but has done absolutey NOTHING to better the lives of the Palestinians or even pressuriZe Blair to give the situation in the Middle East a second glance...

SALAM - GOT THE BELOW INFO FROM http://www.4justpeace.com/Webpages/engage.html

Jack Straw, Foreign Secretary - The Muslims of Blackburn should be feeling ashamed to have such an MP representing them. It is quite clear though that he is not representing them in terms of their views. One of Jack Straws recent comments has been that the Palestinian suicide bombings were "at the heart of this spiral of violence and is driving the Israeli government's position". He has done nothing (prove me wrong if you can) to condemn any of the Israeli action other than expressing "concern". In fact in an article on April 3rd he had the gall to plead for "greater public sympathy for Israel's position in its conflict with the Palestinians" - strewth! When asked about the higher Palestinian death toll (approx 5 times Israeli death toll), Mr Straw said that he "did not want to get into that kind of arithmetic". Mr Straw, a defensive action (Israeli) can not consistently result in 5 times the number of deaths on the so-called offenders (Palestinians), no wonder you do not want to get into that kind of arithmetic!

Muslims of Blackburn please wake up! what have you demanded from Jack Straw? If he is not representing the views of his constituents then surely he should be served notice that he should seek a parliamentary seat elsewhere for the next Parliament. Take a bow Mr Straw, The most anti-Muslim foreign secretary in living memory

I can tell you now that when it comes to Jack Straw, most Blackburn Muslims are ready to lick his backside come election day. I predict he will win comfortably with the help of ours truly.

A close relative of ours lives in Blackburn. He happens to live in the same house that a famous Blackburn football player was born in. He was so, so proud when Jack Straw came round to unveil the plaque outside his home. He said he has changed his opinion since then, but we'll see.

Trying to engage most of these people in politics is going to be very difficult in my opinion. The levels of ignorance are so high that I don't know if the situation is redeemable. Good luck with whoever is going to try though - I'll support them 100%.

TheBatman

I agree Blackburn Muslims will vote for Straw like sheep, but shall I tell you thats not the battle front here. The battle here is to get Muslims in the area thinking for the first time that they have an Islamic obligation to vote correctly.

this time round they will take aleaflet, and think about it, discuss it and vote for straw. Four years later thatthinking process will have matured and you will see a change. And four years after that an even greater change. The battle here is not about beating Straw, but getting Muslims along the mindset to beating straw and that starts now. :)

That is the Jihad that pioneers alone fight. Thus Allah's reward to is far, far greater.

The flyer, is it going to be multi-lingual? It may be that some of the older generation do not know how to read and write English, so maybe it would help to have their language on the flyer as well?

Imagine if the candidate for EVERY party was a Muslim. Would it then matter which party comes to power?

Prehaps that brings us to the conclusion that we should get involve in politics and enter this win-win situation.
